Baseball -The University of West Alabama games are played on Tartt Field on the University Campus. UWA Baseball advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series in 1992. Games are also played at local high schools. Adult softball,  Little League, T-Ball, Girls Pony League softball, and others  are played at the Jaycee Park in Livingston.

 

Basketball - University of West Alabama games are played at Pruitt Hall on the University Campus. Livingston High School and Sumter Academy has enjoyed top state ranking in their division. Public courts are located at local parks.

 

Fishing and Boating - Many private and public ponds, as well as Lake LU, the Tombigbee River and Sucarnochee River, make fishing and boating excellent recreational activates. Public boat launching docks on the Tombigbee River are located in Epes, Gainesville, and Belmont

 

Football - NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference football games are played at  Tiger Stadium on The University of West Alabama campus September through November. High School football is played at Livingston High School and Sumter Academy.

 

Golf - Livingston Country Club (Private) on Country Club Road in Livingston.

 

Hunting - Sumter County is known to be one of the finest hunting areas in Alabama. A license and permission of the landowner is required. There are several public and private hunting facilities  in the county.

 

Picnic Areas - City parks and Lake LU. Make reservations for large groups.

 

Rodeo - The University of West Alabama actively participate in the NIRARodeo competitions. Area school children also participates in the Alabama High School Rodeo championships.

 

Sumter County Fine Arts Council - Series of programs presented each year.

 

Swimming - A pubic swimming pool is located at the Jaycee Park.  The pool is open Tuesday-Sunday June - August .  The daily fee is $1.00 per person.

 

Tennis - There are lighted tennis courts at the Jaycee Park and on the University campus.

 
Volleyball - The University of West Alabama and Livingston High, and Sumter Academy participate in volleyball competitions.
